'The Wizard Of The Kremlin' (In-Development)
- Based on Giuliano da Empoli"s 2022 book of the same name, 'The Wizard Of The Kremlin' centers on the life and rise to power of Vladimir Putin"s infamous advisor and spin doctor Vadim Baranov, a fictional character, but he shares many common traits with Russian politician Vladislav Surkov. Assayas and Emmanuel Carrere"s co-adapt script follows a young Baranov in the aftermath of the USSR"s collapse in the early 1990s as he goes from a young artist and TV producer to an influential government official and one of Putin"s closest liaisons, bending the truth as he sees fit. Alicia Vikander will be working with Assayas and Law again on The Wizard of the Kremlin, an adaptation of Giuliano da Empoli"s novel about a fictionalised spin doctor. 'It"s about a very interesting time in Russian history,' says Vikander. 'The 90s in Moscow must have been extraordinary to live through.' Told from the Russian perspective, the story depicts the rise of an authoritarian leader. 'This is a story where maybe, culturally, we think: "Oh, this is other, this happened somewhere else." And then you realise, no, it just happened 15 years earlier [than in the west]. So who are we to criticise anything, considering that that"s very much part of western politics and history at the moment?' stated during a 2024 Guardian News & Media Limited interview.

Award-winning acting by Alicia Vikander; an Academy Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, Nordic Honorary Dragon Award,
Santa Barbara International Film Festival Award, Palm Springs International Film Festival Award, and
nominations for two Golden Globe Awards, three British Academy Film Awards, with many other
Awards.
Alicia Vikander was born October 3, 1988 and raised in Gothenburg, Sweden (one of the first IVF babies in that Nordic country). Alicia began acting around 5/years old on stage & television. She booked a role (Alicia's mother originally reluctant about her young daughter auditioning for a musical, but allowed it after Alicia having a tantrum for weeks) in Kristina from Duvemala (Kristina fran Duvemala a 1997 Gothenburg professional production of a play written by ABBA members Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson of Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm) based on famous novels about Swedish immigrants who traveled to America, she grew-up playing all the childrens roles. Other plays included; Maria Callas, 1997 - Les Miserables, 2001 - Sound of Music, 2004 - Opera Mera, 2005. Alicia says, 'The theater is a great place for a kid to grow up, because the grown-ups actually play for a living, and because of that, I think they were open to us...' Plays and television series flourished for Alica, with recognition for her role in the drama series "Andra Avenyn" (Second Avenue), Season 1, 2007. Other television shows included; My Embalmed Mother, 2002 - An Island in the Sea, 2003 - A December Dream, 2005 - Live Food, 2007 - Hook, 2008 - Wilderness, 2009.
She dreamed of a life in Ballet Tutus since a Christmas outing to The Nutcracker at the age of five, then trained in ballet from age 9 with the "Svenska Balettskolan i Goteborg" in the
City of Gothenburg, Sweden. At 15, Alicia moved from Gothenburg to train at the Royal Swedish Ballet School upper school in Stockholm, where she would dance 6 hours a day, 6 days a week while living on her own.
The Swedish National Ballet School is a 'regular' secondary school ranging from the years 4-9 (ages 9-16) incorporated with Sweden"s vocational dance education all under one roof, where Alicia was a former student.
Alicia Vikander - tidigare elev vid Svenska Balettskolan (former student at the Swedish Ballet School)
'In ballet school we all had very good grades, but not because you needed to be smart to dance. It was because ballet is about perfection, and if you weren"t perfect, it was like the world was falling apart. I experienced a lot of stress around that. I went to therapy without telling my parents.' She also trained one summer at the American Academy of Ballet in New York. She found relief in acting when, at age 16, she was cast in a mini-series, playing Jossan Tegebrandt Bjorn in Swedish TV drama series "Andra Avenyn" (Second Avenue). A television acting career blossomed for young Alicia, and a film acting career began in Swedish short films [ "Darkness of Truth" 2007
- supported by her wonderful mother Maria Fahl (1951-2022) ] other short films: "Min balsamerade mor" 2002 - "The Rain" 2006 - "Susan's longing" 2008 - "Love" 2008. Eventually, in 2006, at 18 years old, chronic injuries redirected her ballet ambitions, but not before it had equipped her for acting which she discovered she enjoyed more.
During a recent interview she stated, 'I am very good with pain,' moments later, she rolls up her trousers to reveal a recent scar on her knee. 'Skiing,' she says in a stage whisper, gesturing towards her management team across the room. 'But don"t tell them.' Rob Haskell meets Hollywood's skyrocketing star via vogue.com. Around 2007, at age 19, Alicia's acting hopes were (albeit temporarily) dashed when she applied to, and got rejected by the local drama school. She then applied to law school, was accepted and began reviewing the book reading lists, but while working at a Levi's store, she got a call from a casting director; Lisa Langseth was looking for a girl to star in Pure (the film version of Lisa's Swedish play). Then after four or more auditions with filmmaker Lisa Langseth, Alicia's full-length feature film debut was in "Pure" 2010 for which she won the Guldbagge Award for Best Actress.
Then in 2009, at 21 years old, as Alicia was preping for Anna Korenina (her first English speaking film), she moved from Stockholm, with musician friends Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo of the duo Icona Pop and Tove Lo, where Alicia shared an apartment with her three Swedish girlfriends in London. Eventually settling down in North London during 2015, she states, "I've been renovating. It's sad because I'm not in the house, so my friend is taking care of it. I've had someone help me with the structure and engineering drawing, but I've designed it all. Before this I had a small one-bedroom flat that I did up, I drew the kitchen and bathroom. I love that kind of thing." Her stated design is, "British countryside with mid-century Scandinavian and lots of antiques... I like pieces from the Thirties to the Sixties. I grew up in a small studio flat with my mum; we didn't have much space or lots of things. Then from the age of 15 until about three years ago I had only lived in one place for a maximum of three months. The lack of having a home made me dream a lot about having a space. I remember once I wanted to buy a magazine in an airport shop and was thinking, 'This is silly, I've bought every one of the 18 different interior design magazines here because I've been flying so much.' I was trying to create this home that I don't have [laughs]. If the producing and the acting don't work, I might go into interior design. My mum has just started an antique course, which I think I am going to join her on. I'm really excited about it."
During 2016, in the UK with her then agent Charles Collier, Alicia began preparing herself for further creative involvement within the filmmaking industry; Alicia Amanda Vikander with significant control launches (04/28/2016) her production company
Vikarious Entertainment and Media Limited .
Euphoria Alicia's third collaboration with filmmaker Lisa Langseth, took on an additional very different kind of role; behind the camera first time producing a feature film, as the initial Vikarious film production. She has also posited to the Universe the idea of directing a feature film one day if she is feeling brave enough.
She says
during a 2019 interview with The Independent, 'It makes me sad to say this, but women are very harsh against one another, it is all based on history and what we"ve been taught growing up and what is standard in society. I actually did a course in unconscious bias two weeks ago that was so interesting. Because women"s brains have been hard-wired to be like, "Oh, it"s a room, there must be like, two women here and 18 men." So, if I"m going to get my voice heard, I"m going to really have to speak up to get a chance. Over the last few years, the awareness that is being spread really changes the hard-wiring of your brain and you realise, "No, wait a minute, this is a bit strange."
Alicia has always been motivated towards investing her time with giving back and pushing herself beyond dancing and acting into events like; producing media, skydiving, ATV off-roading, chess, gaming, card & board games, singing, and playing musical instruments. Alicia has stated, motherhood changed her 'in every way,' describing it as 'profound,' she enjoys spending quality time with her family, and participating in selected workshops spending time with the young high-school-aged students. Support The Initiative Pippi moves into Villa Villekulla, narrated by Alicia Vikander. - Alicia opened up about her family life at the 2024 Zurich Film Festival in Zurich, Switzerland, where she received the Golden Eye Award. "Sometimes, [preparing for a role] is boring and tedious. My three-year-old is wondering what"s going on, because I"m locking the doors and talking to myself," she laughed. "When I am done, I get very tired. Acting is physically and emotionally draining. I have two young children now, I was pregnant when making that film ["The Assessment"] and that"s where most of my time goes when I am not working." Vikander"s growing multilingual family (the actor is married to Michael Fassbender) aroused festival audience"s curiosity. "My six-month-old doesn"t speak much, but my three-year-old speaks Portuguese, English and Swedish. Recently, he was hanging out with some kids and now there"s also a bit of Spanish. He"s giving me language courses now!" via variety.com - After receiving the award at the,
