Baby Boomers Retirement

The number of people living to 90-years or older more than doubled in the U.S. from 720,000 in 1980 to 1.5 million in 2010 and may swell to 9 million by 2050, according to a 2011 report from the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. National Institute on Aging.

Most are redefining retirement to fit their own needs and interest. Finding it impossible to predict the future way, many are learning to manage the future. Solid savings, low overhead, conservative investment portfolio, healthy lifestyle all help define a better more robust retirement. Keeping active with hobbies or joining clubs can be rewarding. Many find the online world a good way to keep the mind active without much travel.

As far as bitcoin goes, as I get older I realize I don’t know anything for sure, but the following is my current understanding: The idea behind bitcoin is a global electronic secure open-source transparent type of monetary currency payment which can be used online in lieu of visa, MasterCard, PayPal, Western Union or any other payment source.

From an investment perspective it is highly speculative (many of the originators have made fortunes) since the marketplace liquidity is low and at its infancy, and it has the frenzy of the Dutch Tulip bubbles.

From a currency payment perspective it is gaining momentum very quickly. A merchant can accept bitcoin from the electronic wallet of the buyer, and the merchant can use a clearing house (called miners) which will lock in the transaction in their own currency, and transfer it to their bank. This way the currency fluctuation is taken out for the merchant and the buyer (current holder of the bitcoin) assumes all of the risk until they make a purchase.

Bitcoin mining – virtual currency holds a number of attractions for cyber-criminals using “ZeroAccess Botnet.” The way each bitcoin comes into existence is based on the carrying out of mathematical operations known as “mining” on computing hardware. This activity has a direct value to the botmaster and a cost to unsuspecting victims; we took a closer look at the economics and impact of this activity using some old computers available in our labs.

What makes criminals more money, click fraud or Bitcoin mining?
